Game Art
With pixel art, it's easy to keep things simple, and with the GameBoy limitations of GBStudio, it made it even easier to stay on task. My only real issues came in the form of forgetting what colors GBStudio would read them in coordination with whether they were a sprite or a scene, and even then was never a software issue. Along with that, I had to strike a balance between making a character distinct and readable. I wanted to give the character a cane simply to show representation and give an excuse as to why you couldn't run in-game (granted running was never really a necessity.) feel that I achieved my goals in making the character easily readable in their limited move-set and making each sprite distinct.
I do think I may have gone a bit overboard with the environmental art but I will say that I feel like things were added for the betterment of the game's atmosphere. I really liked making the environments large and desolate while adding just enough details to keep players curious. In addition, adding the moving environmental sprites was fun and helped make the world feel alive even if it's still so empty.
I really loved working on this project but hands down, my favorite part about making this was the full-screen pixel art cut scenes. It was a challenge, what with there only being allowed a certain number of different tiles per scene but it was a very fulfilling challenge when I was able to implement them however I wanted/needed.
I loved them all so much that I'm not sure I could pick a favorite. I hope to make more projects like this one while I can and learn from other projects just the same as I did this one.

This picture contains one of the few places in the game where the main character can be seen in detail. The main character has Dark-skin, an afro, and big lips. The main character has a small frame and delicate features and wears a hospital gown. Behind them is a room with a tiled-floor, a door closed behind them, part of a bench, with white walls on all sides.
